2nd Chance, Inc. through it’s emergency shelter Joy Katherine Courtney House offers a safe place for those fleeing domestic and sexual violence. Staff at the shelter are available 24-hours a day to provide support, encouragement, and assistance. Children’s advocates are also available to assist providing helpful activities for the children. Other services available include: forensic exam support, counseling, court and legal advocacy, case management, child advocacy, elder abuse supportive services, assistance with pets and community outreach. Bethesda House
Bethesda House provides emergency shelter with food and emotional support services. Bethesda House also offers residents trauma-based therapy, mindfulness and self-care strategies for coping-skill development; transportation to therapy sessions, court and legal appointments, medical appointments, and employment; and education and job skill training. Other community services available as well as pet sheltering (off-site).

The YWCA operates two confidentially located shelters for women and children fleeing abusive homes. Counselors help these women make safety plans, obtain jobs or job training and work toward independence and self-sufficiency. The shelters serve Blount, Jefferson and St. Clair counties.

AshaKiran provides confidential, culturally sensitive crisis services to foreign born individuals experiencing crisis. AshaKiran offers culturally specific services and referrals for persons dealing with domestic violence, social isolation, abandonment, family crisis or other types of crisis. Offers an emergency shelter and transitional home. “AshaLine” Hopeline is a dedicated 24 hour crisis phone line providing confidentiality and served by trained volunteers to provide support and culturally specific services and referrals.

One Place Family Justice Center
One Place Family Justice Center provides free local advocacy for domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, sexual violence, child abuse, elder abuse and human trafficking labor and sex by assisting with safety planning, risk assessments, and civil legal advocacy. Daybreak Shelter provides options for victims who wish to escape violent relationships and homes, and recognize that every person and situation is different. The shelter facility is in an undisclosed location to protect participants and their children.
